Latisse® Myths BUSTED

Latisse in St. Augustine, FLLong, beautiful lashes are one of the most coveted beauty trends. And yet, growing them on your own is not always the easiest. So many individuals struggle with thin, short lashes and feel that they will never have the luxurious ones they crave. Fortunately, Latisse® is a safe, effective and user-friendly procedure that can be used to grow darker, longer lashes. Chances are, you’ve heard of Latisse® before. But, do you know what’s fact from fiction? There are countless myths out there that prevent people from understanding the full potential of this procedure. So if you’re ready to get in-the-know, allow us to bust the most common Latisse® myths.

Myth: Your Eyes Will Change Color

When applied for cosmetic purposes, Latisse® is applied just to the eyelashes. This means that the actual surface of the eye receives only trace amounts of the solution, greatly minimizing the chances of any changes to the color of the iris. This myth surfaced as a result of data that showed 1-2% of glaucoma patients experienced changes in their iris color when using the drug to manage glaucoma development and hypertension in the eyes. However, in initial clinical trials of Latisse® for cosmetic purposes, this discoloration was not reported. Rest assured, that this treatment is extremely safe for all eye colors.

Myth: You’ll Grow Hair in Unwanted Locations

Fewer than 4% of Latisse® users have experienced unwanted hair growth on other parts of the face, such as under the eyes and on the cheeks. However, it should be noted that this is most common when the patient improperly uses the treatment, applying more solution than is needed. Fortunately, if unwanted hair should occur, it is entirely treatable, reversible and, for many, avoidable. Simply use Latisse® as directed and you’ll be good to go.

Myth: It’s Safer to Try Extensions

The truth is that there are far more risks associated with eyelash extensions. These risks include allergic reaction, bacterial and fungal infections, irritation to the mucous membrane covering the eyes, or eyelash loss due to damages to the hair follicle. With so many potential hazards associated with extensions, the choice is clear. Latisse® offers very few risks, minimal negative side effects and has been proven safe and effective for a wide range of patients.

Myth: It’s Too Expensive

When it comes to investing in yourself, we firmly believe that any money is money well spent. But especially in terms of the face-the region of the body that tends to make the first and perhaps longest-lasting impression-we believe that you get back what you invest tenfold.
